Our Story
Where It All Began
Noble Shih Tzu was founded on a simple belief: that every puppy deserves the best possible start in life, and every family deserves a companion they can enjoy for years to come. What began as a deep personal love for the Shih Tzu breed has grown into an intentional breeding program rooted in integrity.
Based in Northeast Oklahoma, we are a small, home-based program — which means our puppies are raised underfoot, surrounded by the sights, sounds, and rhythms of everyday family life. They are handled daily from birth, exposed to children, household noises, various textures, places in the house, and car rides, all of which lays the foundation for the confident, loving companions they become.
We are selective about our breeding pairs, our buyers, and our practices. We don't cut corners on health testing, and we don't rush the placement process. Every Noble puppy goes home with a health guarantee, veterinary records, and our ongoing support — because our relationship with our families doesn't end at pickup.

Our Program
How We Breed
Our program is built on three pillars: rigorous health testing, structured early socialization, early neurological stimulation, early scent introduction, and a commitment to AKC breed standards. Here's what that looks like in practice.
Health Testing
All of our breeding dogs undergo comprehensive health evaluations before being included in our program. This includes CAER eye certifications, cardiac evaluations by a board-certified cardiologist, and genetic panel testing for hereditary conditions relevant to the Shih Tzu breed.
We believe health testing is non-negotiable. It's how we protect our puppies, our buyers, and the integrity of the breed. Results are available to prospective buyers upon request.
Early Socialization
From day three of life, our puppies begin Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) — a series of gentle exercises proven to build stress tolerance, cardiovascular strength, and neurological resilience. This is followed by our structured socialization curriculum through eight weeks. All of our puppies leave our care 90-100% pee pad trained.
By the time a Noble puppy goes home, they have been exposed to a wide variety of sounds, surfaces, people, and experiences. They've been held by children and adults, introduced to older dogs and other litters in our program, and acclimated to the sounds of a busy household. The result is a puppy who is curious, confident, and ready to bond.
Breed Standards & Type
We strive to breed to the AKC Shih Tzu standard (with the exception of our imperial lines which are still bred to all other standards except weight/size) with a focus on correct structure, beautiful coat, and the breed's signature sweet, trusting expression. We prioritize the qualities that define the Shih Tzu as a companion breed: a gentle temperament, sturdy build, and the kind of presence that fills a room.
Our breeding pairs are selected with care — balancing pedigree, health, structure, and temperament. We are always working to improve, and we welcome questions from fellow breeders and enthusiasts about our program.
